We had a lovely heart day in the Boyer house this year! I traditionally make the kids a festive breakfast of heart shaped pancake with strawberries and decorate the table with Valentine's plates, and a balloon and small box of chocolates for each kid. The night before the holiday this year both Levi and Joel asked me separately if there would be heart pancakes for breakfast (it made me happy to know they actually remembered and looked forward to the tradition). With some extra night before prep, I was surprised that even on a busy school day morning our fun meal went off without a hitch. It was a sweet morning with my kiddos and made extra special because Philip surprised me with a pretty flower arrangement and some of my favorite candies left on the table before he left very early for work that morning.
My mom came over to keep the kids for me that afternoon while I went to be on a panel of speakers at a lay-midwife meeting. She spoiled the kids with gifts, and I was able to go to the big boys' school alone and visit both of their Valentines parties. It was fun to see them each interacting with their classmates and having fun.
Since Valentine's Day fell on a Wednesday we went to church dinner and bible class that evening, but added some extra fun by grabbing some frozen custard for a treat on the way home. It was a good day and I feel very lucky to have so many people in my life to celebrate on the day of love!
