We enjoyed celebrating Easter this year! The kids were spoiled with 3 egg hunts; one at our church, one in our neighborhood and our usual hunt for dyed eggs at home Easter morning. Rachel was adorable finding eggs and plopping them into her basket and made the best dramatic expressions! The boys, as expected raced from egg to egg as if it was a sport! On the Saturday before Easter we dyed eggs per our family tradition, and as usual the kids all really enjoyed being creative and getting messy. This was Rachel's first time to really participate and she was amazed at the "co-lurs." For the first time Levi really took his time and put in extra effort on his eggs. I only dyed one egg, but I was pretty impressed with myself because I managed to get 6 colors on that single egg!
Easter morning the kids woke up, dug into their baskets and had a pre-breakfast candy snack. Then we headed to the back yard to hunt eggs, which went off with minimal fighting; a big improvement over last year! After the egg hunt we got dressed up and headed to church where we enjoyed a special service and decorated the cross with flowers; symbols of the new life Christ gives us through his death and resurrection.
After church we headed to my parents house for a delicious lunch followed by a cascarone battle and wiffle ball game. It is always so nice to spend time with my family and watch the cute cousins play together. We missed Seth and Morgan (they were with her family) but were blessed to have everyone else together. Easter is probably my most favorite holiday and every year I am overwhelmed when I ponder what all God and Jesus did for us sinners that first Resurrection day.

Bye - Bye Beard!
Last week Philip shaved off his beard for the first time in over 2 years! Rachel had never seen him clean shaven, and her reaction was priceless! At first she was stunned and confused, but it progressed to a hysterical fear and nearly an hour of her crying every time he came near. Philip walked into the bathroom while she was bathing and she tried to hide from him by laying on her belly and ended up sucking in some water. It was sad and hilarious all at once. She would cry, cling to me and turn her head every time he came in the room. When he tried to get close she would scream "Go-way!" or "no, no noooo!" Poor baby girl! Philip and the boys had fun shaving his beard into some interesting styles and we all laughed a lot. It took a couple days, but Rachel finally warmed up to her Daddy's new look. However, she will still occasionally say, "Dada bear go bye bye?"
