Our Wildlife Sanctuary

Philip and I love our little dog, Penny. This is one of the many reasons we know we are going to be overwhelmed by our feelings for our little boy when he gets here because we just love her so much. To us, she is a beautiful, smart, funny addition to our family. She is a great running mate and snuggle friend. She also has a mischievous side.

Well, last night we had another adventure with Penny. She was laying down with us in the living room when all the sudden she jumped up, ran outside into the backyard through her doggie door and started barking like crazy. This was after dark, so we were surprised. We both got up and ran out the back door to find her pointing a visitor in the yard. When have seen this possum before about a year ago so I guess he stuck around through winter.

I guess Philip has done such a wonderful job on making our back (and front and side) yard so nice that we have invited several other species to share the yard with Penny. We have many birds, bugs, butterflies, toads, possum, lizards, snakes, of course koi and other fish in the pond, squirrel and rabbits that visit our yard regularly. I have a feeling that once our little boy gets a little older I will have lots of fun with him bringing animal friends into the house. This is exciting to me because I used to love to do that as a little kid as well. I collected bugs too if that tells you anything :). Enjoy some pictures from our little wildlife sanctuary!

Dustin is Home! Again!

Well, I just wanted to post a little update on my brother-in-law Dustin. He is now home (was discharged from the hospital Wednesday) and so far things are going much better than last time. We are so excited that it seems to be he has finally turned the corner and is on his was to full recovery. Please keep him and my sister, Kate, in your prayers as the transition from the hospital to their new home. Also please continue to pray for Dustin's health and for a quick and hitch free recovery.

Things are going great on the Boyer front. We are getting closer to having an actual nursery for our little guy to come home to and are planning on painting pretty soon. We have picked out the color and ordered the furniture! It is so exciting to be moving closer towards a little family of three! He has been SOOO active this last couple of weeks and I have really enjoyed being able to feel his turning and kicking. Sometimes Philip can see him move from the other side of the room and he has been able to feel a lot more of his kicks lately. I think he is going to be an active little guy just like his mom and dad were as kiddos. We are so happy and blessed!

I am hoping to get another "sono" up at work some time soon and will post more pictures when I do! Hope everyone who is reading is well and enjoying the beautiful weather! Philip and I have been (as always) enjoying a lot of time outdoors. Recently we planted much of our garden and spring annuals in the yard. Here are a few pictures to enjoy, I can't wait 'til it is all done and has grown for a bit...I think this year will be a pretty one!

gerbera daisy by mailbox (I love how these come back every year and bloom like mad!)

Viability!!

Well, life has been a little hectic lately. With the baby coming and my sweet sister and her husband dealing with his injury and recovery I feel like my mind is going into overdrive! It is strange how you can become lost in thought so easily and an hour can go by and you feel like it's been 5 minutes. So....I am going try to update you all as best I can :).

This weekend I hit the BIG 24 week mark in my pregnancy! This is important to me because being a labor and delivery nurse 24 weeks gestation ("6 months") is the point where babies are considered viable for life outside the womb and would be treated for prematurity and given a chance at life if they were born early. The reality of becoming a parent seems a little more real now. Although of course I want him to be a healthy and stay happily inside until he is to the 37 week mark ("full term") and then he can come out ANY time! I have been feeling great and thus have had a very easy pregnancy. I feel very blessed and humbled by this, especially considering all the people I know who are not so lucky. God is good! I had another little sonogram up at work and he was all curled up with his head down and his chin to his chest. This made it pretty tough to get any recognizable pictures. He was moving a lot but we could not get him to hold still in a position where you could freeze the picture and get a nice still shot with out a bunch of cord or hands and knees in the way. Here are a few pictures to share at this milestone:
This is me 24 weeks along!

Here he is saying "I Love You" in sign language

(at least I say that...although my Gran would say he is doing hook 'em horns)

I also wanted to update you on my brother in law Dustin. He was able to go home but the joy was short lived and he only stayed home 1 night. He became very ill and is now suffering from pancreatitis. He has been readmitted to the hospital and will likely undergo a procedure to remove the stints they placed during the 2nd surgery sometime at the beginning of this week. He is not able to eat and is fairly discouraged and uncomfortable at this time. Again, I really appreciated all the prayers that have been given on his behalf and I am going to ask again that you continue to pray for his recovery as well as my wonderful sister, Kate and their sweet daughter Nora. Our family has been overwhelmed with the outpouring of thoughts and prayers and this has brought us closer to the Lord and each other. However we are growing weary and are ready for Dustin to be able to feel like himself again.

Well. For now that is all I have to say and I thank you for reading. I think we will have our little boy's name "officially" with in the next few days/weeks and of course I will post about him again soon. Love and Blessings to you all!
