On the Go!

Well, Levi is walking!!! I can't believe my little baby can walk! He has been taking steps for about 3 weeks now and has been getting quickly better these last 4-5 days. He now walks about 40-50% of the time, but crawling is certainly faster. It seems that every time I try to get video he either gets excited to see me and sits down to crawl quickly over or he walks for a long time and then stops once I get the camera on and rolling. So far this is one of the best yet. Enjoy!

Fun in the Sun!

On Friday My parents and Philip's Dad joined us for a concert at a park near us that featured a Beatles cover band. We had so much fun enjoying the perfectly beautiful weather and having a relaxing picnic dinner while listening to some good tunes :) Levi LOVES to be outside, so he of course had a very nice evening. What could go wrong when you have 3 grandparents and your parents all there to just love and spoil you in the sunshine!

9 Months Old!

Tomorrow Levi will turn 9 months old! I say this every month, but I just can't believe how fast this first year is going by! He is constantly changing and learning and growing! Philip and I are both just loving every minute we are with him lately and he is so much fun to just watch. He is VERY busy and into everything! It is just so cute and interesting to watch him explore the world :)

Here goes the usual lists!

New Developments:
-"free stands" meaning he can stand up without using anything to pull up
-has 4 teeth now (2 on top, 2 on bottom) and seems to be getting 2 more on top
-eats table food (and is resisting the spoon...unless it's yogurt or applesauce!)
-takes steps (usually just 2-3 but has done 6 once)
-takes 2 naps a day usually about 1 hour each
-drinks well from his sippy cup of water

Things he LOVES:
-signing songs (he will "sing" along...usually in ahhhhhhs)
-swinging in his swing in the back yard
-moving and especially standing up over and over
-yogurt, bananas, strawberries, applesauce (he inherited the Boyer sweet tooth!)
-daddy getting home from work
-penny (our dog)
-playing peak a boo or "where's momma/levi"
-stunts with Dad

Things that might as well be torture:
-getting cleaned up after meals (especially his face)
-having to hold still (such as getting a diaper changed or getting dressed)
-being contained (no more exersaucer for fun:(!)
-having something taken away from him that he wants (ie paper he is eating)

He had his 9 month check up this morning and he did very well again. They pricked his finger to check for anemia and he just looked at the nurse with a expression of what in the world are you doing?! His Doctor said he is right on track verbally and is staying ahead physically (which is on track for him). He said Levi is making his job easy.

Here are his new stats:
-height: 30 inches (95%)
-weight: 20 lbs 6 ounces (50%)
-head circumference: 46.3 cm (75%)

So, he is slimming up and still tall...what can we expect when he doesn't stop moving unless he is eating or sleeping! I have to say, I'm a little sad that he is going to be 1 in only 3 short months. I kinda want him to stay just like he is. My sweet baby boy.

You Know You're a Texan When...

You feel an overwhelming desire to take photos of your baby in the bluebonnets!

I had a really nice day yesterday with my friend Angela (her little boy will be here very soon!) and there was a really neat, safe field of bluebonnets near her house and we just had to stop and snap a few pictures! Thanks for hanging out with us Angela...can't wait to meet your little guy!

Nakie Time!

What could be better than lounging around in nothing but your diaper? There are so many fun things you can do and it feels so nice not to have clothes holding you back...

you can explore the house

you can play with your toys and investigate the kitchen cabinets

you can have a snack of yummy cheerios

you can rock out with your bible songs signing book

and best of all (and the only true nakie time) you can take a bath!

Dear Momma, now that it is warm I would like to have a little nakie time each day. It is my favorite way to be. Thank you.
Love, Levi

Happy Easter!

Levi's first Easter was a good one! We kind of made a weekend of it. On Friday I dyed eggs during Levi's morning nap and had a lot of fun too!

Then we headed over to the butterfly exhibit as a family at the Ft Worth Botanical Gardens. Levi didn't even notice the butterflies at first, but once he did he thought they were pretty intriguing. We ran into Levi's sweet friend, and her Momma of course, which was a nice surprise! The exhibit was really neat. It was climate controlled with high humidity and lots of tropical plants and there were beautiful butterflies everywhere. Some of you may remember that as a girl I had a small obsession with butterflies! We spent nearly an hour just watching them fly around and land on us, flowers, leaves etc.

On Saturday I worked and Levi and Philip had their weekly father-son day. They had a fun day enjoying the nice weather. Of course they had to swing in the swing and they also got our veggie garden planted! Yipee, can't wait to see it grow and taste some tomatoes!!!

Then today we enjoyed a wonderful Easter service at church that started our 4 day "Resurrection Renewal" that will be every night Sun - Wed this week. I must say I just love Easter and taking time out to think about God's amazing sacrifice and how that gives us such wonderful hope! Plus it is always fun to get together with friends, sing great songs and enjoy all the cute kiddos in the Easter outfits!

After church we headed over to my parent's for the afternoon and had a delicious meal (my Momma sure does know how to set out a holiday spread...from food to decorations!) and then enjoyed spending time with the family. We also got to stop by and see Dustin and he is feeling much better, his enzyme levels are normal and he may be able to go home as soon as Tuesday!! Yipee!

We then headed back to church and enjoyed spending more time meditating on the resurrection and I'm so excited because for the FIRST time Levi only cried for 1 minute when I left him in the nursery and enjoyed playing and was happy and crawling all over when I picked him up! WaHoo!!!

I hope you all had a wonderful Easter!

Prayer Request!

Well, my brother-in-law Dustin is back in the hospital. It has been over a year since the accident and almost a year since he got to go home. We are all a little discouraged and surprised by this readmission. He has been diagnosed with pancreatitis. Please see my sister Kate's blog here.

I must say, I am again so proud of my sister and her sweet husband. They are handling this trial with great patience and faith just as they did the first time. I know God will see them through and after it's over they will clearly see His power and love again. I am so blessed to have Kate and Dustin as my family and to be able to witness their faith and God working through them. Please keep them in your prayers.
