Splash and Dash!

This morning Levi and Joel participated in their first ever aquathlon. It was a fun event and they really enjoyed racing with some of their friends! Both boys did a great job swimming and running! Levi placed 2nd in his age group and Joel placed 7th! Joel was really disappointed because he accidentally took a wrong turn during the run which added a minute or so to his time and kept him off the podium. He placed 2nd in the swim in his age group and ran so fast while he was on the course. Lesson learned, pay attention during the pre-race instructions (he admitted he wasn't listening and didn't know where he would be running). All in all they had a lot of fun and are already looking forward to and strategizing about how they can improve their times for next year. I hope they always keep and share a love for this type of sport!

One of my good friends is Race Director for the Splash Dash and Smile (And the Honor Conner 5K each spring) and she did a great job planning and running the event! I was able to volunteer, and helped by doing the body marking before the race, which was so much fun! The race raises money for the LVProject which provides education about water safety and drowning prevention. It's a great cause and I'm so glad our family was about to participate!
