Games

Lately Levi has been a little obsessed with "inventing" and then playing new games. They are basically all some version of chasing each other or banging something into something else. His enthusiasm is adorable, but the constant desire to play these games is exhausting. Even Joel, who adores his big brother, gets tired of Levi's games. But, they are such a regular part of our day right now (and they are cute and crack me up) that I wanted to document Levi's "games".

1. Brush Rig: pretend you are a brush rig (from his big book of trucks) and chase each other around. This must be done on wheels (scooter, bike, stroller) and the preferred site is the driveway.

2. Spider Man: chase each other around saying "I'm going to get you" wearing capes if possible. Levi has never seen spider man. Some how he has latched on to the name, but knows nothing about the character. This explains the capes and lack of anything spider man like happening during the game.

3. Hand Bam: run around and bang your fist into things. I prefer this be played outside where there are more things to bang that can't be hurt. Levi prefers to play this inside and to bam his hand on furniture, Joel or my legs/bottom.

4. Ball Bam: Run around and randomly bounce a ball on the ground, or occasionally your baby brother. When you bounce the ball you say bam and then try to catch it.

5. Box Balls: Run around through the house and try to roll balls into boxes set on their side (this is my favorite one)

Some of these games require quite a bit of refereeing on my part, with constant reminders that it's not ok to hurt our friends or family. Lately Levi has become quite physical and uses his body to express all of his emotions. This is baffling and challenging for me. His fits have become full body flailing and he often throws his toys if he gets frustrated. We have conversations more than once a day about using words to explain how we feel and that throwing our toys may break them or hurt something or someone, so it would be better to just ask for help. Thankfully he is almost always a very happy little guy, but these outbursts are exhausting! Despite the challenges these games may bring I love seeing my little guy get creative and invite Joel, Philip and I to join in on the fun.
