Port Aransas!

Last week we went on our annual family vacation, this year to Port Aransas on the Texas Coast. It is about a 7-8 hour drive (with stops for meals and potty breaks) and thankfully the drive down and home both went very smoothly. To get to and from the island we had to drive our truck onto a ferry and ride it across the bay, super exciting for all 4 boys :). Philip and I felt God blessed us with smooth safe travel as well as wonderful weather! It was in the 70s/low 80s the whole time and only rained during day light once.

We had a wonderful time staying in "our beach house" rental a couple blocks from the beach. It was a spacious rental with 2 bedrooms in a great location on Mustang Island. Philip's dad let us borrow his boat for the trip and we used the free marina in town several times to just take a short boat ride in the bay or try and catch some dinner. One evening to tried our luck fishing on the pier. Some of our neighbor caught some interesting fish, we struck out, but enjoyed the view! We also spent several hours on the beach, digging in the sand, relaxing, boogie boarding and jumping waves. One evening we ate dinner at a restaurant I remembered eating at with my family as a kid, The Crazy Cajun. It was fun to take my boys to the relaxed Cajun spot and eat some yummy seafood boil off the paper table cloths. The boys had a blast using the hammer and eating with they hands. Most meals we cooked at the beach house including a one extra yummy dinner of local caught grouper. It was a great trip and we plan to go back one day!
