The Boyer Blog: Levi is THREE!!!

Some how I have managed to raise a child for 3 whole years...it just seems surreal! My sweet love Levi is 3! The little baby who turned me into a mom and forever changed my life has grown into a very special little boy. God has blessed us beyond measure! Levi has such a sweet heart and a strong love for his family and friends. He is smart, funny, stubborn, athletic, strong, sensitive, silly, handsome and imaginative. He loves to dance, sing, laugh, have his way, play outside, be active, be with his family and try new things. His heart is starting to form a relationship with God and he is growing more and more interested in his Bible and what he is learning about Christ at church and home. Just today he was said "God helps me! If I nervous he will help me." Melt my heart!

Watching him grow, learn and develop is a joy. Philip and I cannot believe how blessed we are to call him our son. Just yesterday we were saying how wonderful it is to have him living in our home and our world every day. I don't even want to think about him growing up and moving out one day (God willing).

Doctor D said that Levi is doing very well and was impressed that he has been well potty trained (even at night) for so long. He thought his verbal skills were above average even though he still says several words funny (such as dick for stick, heltertopter for helicopter and doot for foot) and said that "as usual" Levi is right on target and developing beautifully :) Makes for one proud Momma!

Levi has changed so much over the past few months and although I can feel that his "threes" are going to be challenging in a whole new way, I can also see that we will have a lot of fun. He is sooo strong willed and so interested in doing everything himself, but he is also learning more and more about the way this world and family works and has crazy/funny observations along the way.

His physical confidence is sky high and he is willing to try to do almost any physical activity he can think up...and just like his Daddy he usually succeeds (or at least avoids injury) which just feeds his drive to push the limits. It the past couple of months I have watched him learn to swim on his own, ride his bike super fast, jump off of things that were way too high, climb up a trellis in our back yard (and not catch him doing it until his hand was on the ROOF), and pull "his" step stool out over and over and try to get out cooking utensils and make himself a meal in the kitchen....and the list goes on and on. I am trying my best to brace myself and learn to place his safety in God's hands and not worry too much. If he continues to be like his Daddy these risky activities will seem like nothing in a few years. Yeesh!

Levi has also improved his verbal skills and can carry a conversation with almost anyone (as long as he doesn't talk too fast...that's when his words come out funny). He is quite the chatter box and asks questions all. day. long. His vocabulary is blooming and he surprises me with new big words all the time. I'm hoping he will have a big vocabulary and excellent writing skills like his Daddy (not my strengths).

Family is Levi's most favorite thing and his love and loyalty for each member just melts my heart. We spend a good portion of every day talking about his daddy, grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins. I LOVE that he often thinks of his family even those that live far away and he doesn't get to see often. He has such a big, sweet heart and I hope to help him grow that part of his spirit as he matures.

We celebrated Levi's birthday on Saturday with a party, but couldn't pass up making his actual birthday a special day too. He got to choose what we had for each meal and it was cute to see what he chose. For breakfast we had PBJ sandwiches, bananas and milk. Then we headed over to the grocery store to shop for lunch and dinner. He chose corny dogs, fries and watermelon for lunch and sausage, salmon, cucumber, tomatoes, carrots, ranch dip, cherries, blackberries, mushrooms, crescent rolls and orange juice for dinner. His meal choices show his love for all types of food gourmet to junk to fresh produce. I love the way my little guy eats! At lunch he requested that we all wear hats and even Joel cooperated. For another special birthday treat we took a trip to the rec to swim after nap. Levi is quite the lover of all things water!
