Camping with the Steidls!

Over Labor Day weekend we met our good friends, the Steidls, in Arkansas to camp in the Ozark Mountains. Our camp site was in Mount Nebo State Park, and we really enjoyed the facilities. We had a wonderful time enjoying the outdoors and the beauty of God's creation. The kids all played so well together and had a blast getting extra dirty :). The weather was a little warm, but we were blessed with a couple of rain showers to cool down the evenings (the kids loved hanging out in the tents during the "down pours!"). Both of our families love good food, so we enjoyed cooking and eating together at the picnic table. I wish we could spend more time with this special family, but alas, Tennessee is just a little far for regular play dates. Enjoy the pictures and captions...there's a ton!

the kids checked out the view after arriving (note Levi's binoculars!)
enjoying the fire and getting ready to make some s'mores!
the trucks were a hit with all the kids

Penny was a really good girl the whole trip...phew :)
Thank you Lord for this beautiful view...that's what I call a well placed camp site :)
happy eaters waiting for their breakfast burritos
There was a great pool (with another great view and awesome slide!)
everyone was happy to cool off in the pool...it was in the 80s and 90s

we all enjoyed seeing several deer during the trip...there were LOTS of babies too!
watchin' the rain!
having fun in the tent during the rain :)
the whole bunch of us at the visitor center (the kids enjoyed a lesson on "skulls and skins" given by the ranger
Our family
Sweet and precious gifts! We loved watching these 4 play together :)

Levi and Joel were so worn out from all the fun that they slept for the first 2.5 hours of the drive home. It was a wonderful trip, and we made more great camping memories as a family. I hope we can meet the Steidls for another trip in the future!
